Did you know it is possible to connect your Microsoft Outlook Calendar to your HootBoard? You can sync both of these platforms to create instant updates that follow your Hoots.
Below is a step by step process on how to connect your HootBoard so that everytime you post an Event, it'll simultaneously update the event on your Outlook Calendar.
Step 1:
Start by selecting 'connectors' located in your profile area of your hootboard. You can identify this area with your profile photo.
Step 2:
You'll be brought to this screen, select 'Zapier'
Step 3:
You can select to connect to HootBoard on Zapier. This will require you to connect your account via your login information. Just login with the prompt it says so that it can identify which board you belong to.
Step 4:
Click on 'Create Zap' to get started.
Step 5:
Go 'search apps' and type in 'HootBoard' to auto-populate the app.
Step 6:
Once selected, click on 'trigger event' and Choose and event
Step 7:
Click on 'New Posted to Board' to set the trigger event.
Step 8:
Select which board this triggering event should be on. I'm using my training board as the event.
Step 9:
Now we must test the trigger. Open a new window and go to your HootBoard. Don't close the Zapier window.
This will teach Zapier what variables it needs to identify. To accomplish this, all we need to do is post a Hoot for Zapier to test.
Step 10:
Go back to your HootBoard and Post an Event. Start by clicking 'post here'
Step 11:
Choose 'Event'
Step 12:
Fill out the Hoot. Write a title, description, start date, end date, location, and hoot color.
Fill out the dates
Choose the Color
Select collections (not required).
Step 13:
Click "post now"
Step 14:
Go back to the Zapier page and 'test trigger' by clicking on the the button.
Step 15:
Your Hoot should get found and your triggering event should be setup.
Step 16:
Now we setup an 'action.' Search for 'Outlook' and Microsoft Outlook should populate.
Step 17:
Select an action Event by clicking on the drop down menu and choosing 'Create Event'
Step 18:
Choose an Outlook account by selecting the account you'd like for your hoots to populate on the Outlook Events Calendar.
Step 19:
Select 'Calendar'
Step 20:
Identify each part of the Hoot within the Zapier setup.
Identify the Title
Identify the Event Start Date
Identify the Event End Date
Identify the Description
Click Continue
Step 21:
Test the action. Your Triggering event should identify the hoot and be able to populate it on the calendar now. DON'T FORGET to 'turn on Zap'
Step 22:
View the Calendar event on your Outlook.
Step 1:
And you're done. Now everytime you post an event Hoot, it will populate the event on your Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
