Screen Playlists Feature Guide

Screen Playlist lets you display content (images, videos, etc) on your Digital Signages or on your Interactive Kiosk screens when they are idle (not being actively used)

Accessing Screen Playlists

1. Navigate to the Admin Menu in your HootBoard
2. Click on Screen Playlists
3. You'll see two sub-menu options:
   • All Playlists (selected by default)
   • Playlist Schedule

Managing Your Playlists

1. Creating a New Playlist

   In the All Playlists section, you can view all your existing playlists. If you're starting fresh, this area will be empty initially.

   To create a new playlist:

   • Click on New Playlist.
   • Give your playlist a name and a description by clicking on Set Basic Details.
   • Click on Add Content to start adding content to build your playlist.

2. Adding Content to Playlists

   Important: You cannot manually upload content directly to playlists yet. All content must come from existing hoots posted on your board and are linked to the collections.

   To add content:

   • Click Add Content at the top of your playlist.
   • Select the Collections you want to pull content from.
   • You can choose collections from your current board or other boards as well.

   • Only the content of the hoot (image, video, etc) will be pulled as a playlist item - not the hoot titles or descriptions.

     

3. Managing Content Within Playlists

   Once you've added your content, you can:

   • Reorder Content - Drag and drop content to arrange it in your preferred display order, this gives you control over which content to display first.
   • Duplicate Content - Create copies of content within the same playlist in case you want to display same content over multiple times.
   • Hide Content -  Excludes any Playlist item from the playlist.

   • Set Content Duration - Choose how long each piece of content displays where available options are 7.5 seconds, 15 seconds (default), 30 seconds or 60 seconds.

     

4. Updating Collections

   To modify which collections feed into your playlist.

   • Click Update Collections in the top right.
   • Add new collections or remove existing ones.
   • Click Pull Content and your playlist will automatically reflect these changes.

Scheduling Playlists

The Playlist Schedule section allows you to assign different playlists to specific screens on particular timelines.

• Go to Screen Playlists > Playlist Schedule
• You'll see all your available screens (both interactive kiosks and digital signages)
• Your created playlists appear at the top of the interface

• Simply drag and drop playlists onto the screen areas where you want them to display under specific timeline.

  

• This scheduling system gives you complete control over what content displays on which screens and when.

Automatic Content Updates

When you create new hoots and assign them to collections that are already part of existing playlists:

1. Automatic Updates: New content will automatically be added to relevant playlists.
2. Manual Sync: You can also manually update playlists by clicking Sync within the playlist interface.
