Note: This setup is recommended for short-term use, such as events or temporary installations. For permanent or long-term setups, we strongly recommend using the HootBoard Digital Signage App for Android TVs for optimal performance and reliability.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
A HootBoard account.
A computer or device with a web browser (Google Chrome is recommended).
A display screen or monitor connected to your device.
A stable internet connection.
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions
1. Create a HootBoard
If you don’t already have a HootBoard account, you’ll need to create one:
Follow the prompts to set up your board
Once your board is created, you’re ready to configure it for digital signage.
2. Configure Digital Signage in Admin Settings
To enable digital signage, you’ll need to generate a unique screen ID for your display:
Note: If you have already created a Screen ID, you may skip ahead to the Setup the Browser section.
- Navigate to your board.
- Go to Screens > Digital Signage > Add digital signage.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Digital Signage Screen.
- Once completed, make a note of the Screen ID displayed at the end.
- You will need to enter this ID into the digital signage device after the web app is loaded.
- Go to Licenses > Digital Signage.
- Add Premium License to the cart.
- Proceed to checkout and complete the process.
3. Set Up the Browser
HootBoard Digital Signage can run on any modern web browser, but we recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience:
Open Google Chrome on the device connected to your display.
Ensure you are not using an incognito or private browsing window, as this may interfere with the signage setup.
Navigate to https://screens.hootboard.com
You’ll see an input field prompting you to enter the screen ID you noted earlier.
4. Enter the Screen ID and Go Full Screen
Enter the screen ID into the input field on the screens.hootboard.com page.
Press Enter or submit the form to load your HootBoard content.
Once the content loads, switch your browser to full-screen mode (on most browsers, press F11 or use the browser’s menu to enable full-screen).
Your HootBoard Digital Signage content should now display on the screen.
5. Adjust Orientation (Optional)
If you prefer to display your content in portrait mode (e.g., for vertical screens), you’ll need to adjust the orientation settings:
Return to the Admin Settings in your HootBoard account.
Navigate to the Screens sub-menu and select the Digital Signage tab.
Locate the screen you created and access the Manage Screen section.
Set the desired orientation (portrait or landscape) and save the changes.
Refresh the browser on your display device to apply the new orientation.
