HootBoard Discontinues Support for Chromebit Devices

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue support for Chromebit devices.

This decision comes in the wake of Google and hardware manufacturers ending their support for Chromebit devices several years ago. While we initially implemented workarounds to continue supporting Chromebits, the lack of ongoing updates and support from Google as well as recent APIs changes have made it increasingly challenging to maintain a high-quality user experience on these devices.

What about Chromeboxes and other Chrome OS devices?

Google has implemented new API policies and introduced a mandatory Google Enterprise Tool license for each device to enable seamless kiosk-mode functionality. This license comes with an additional cost per device.

After careful consideration of these changes and their impact on our users, we've made the difficult decision to discontinue support for all Chrome OS devices moving forward.
